Last year, Yoga Alliance published a survey that claimed 36.7 million people practiced yoga in 2016 (we secretly think a good portion of those yogis are right here in northern Westchester). The results showed that Americans believe that yoga

    • is good for you
    • increases flexibility and strength
    • enhances athletic performance, and
    • reduces stress.

Haven’t tried it yet? Here are a handful of nearby places to begin to find your inner om.

    Bedford

The light-filled Yoga Loft overlooks the lush, 15-acre property of the Bedford Post and offers daily classes, workshops, private yoga parties, immersions, and more. Classes range from gentle and therapeutic to Vinyasa and Kundalini. All props provided.  All levels welcome. A New Student Special which includes two-weeks of unlimited yoga costs $50.  Multi-packs and unlimited memberships are available, as well.

    Bedford Hills

Katonah Yoga, developed by Nevine Michaan and her teachers over the last forty years, is both spiritually refined and eminently practical. By synthesizing classical Taoist Chinese theory, traditional Hatha yoga postures, and meditation, it provides a clear yet powerful understanding of the mechanics of the body while encouraging increased awareness of the self. Classes are drop-in only (no reservation required). Choose from Gentle, Hatha, Katonah, Yin Restorative, Pranayama, and Radiant Body Yoga. Mats and props provided.

    Pound Ridge

Karen McInerney, who is trained in the disciplines of Ashtanga, Iyengar, and Anusara, offers Renovation Yoga, a combination of these styles that creates a dynamic and inspiring alignment-based flow class for all levels. Practice your breathing, control your body and your heart on Thursdays and Sundays at Conant Hall in Pound Ridge. No reservations required. $15 per class. Contact Karen at karenmcinerney3@gmail.com or 914-588-3520 for more info.
