A milestone birthday like 75 or 80 doesn’t mean slowing down anymore; local seniors find there are so many great ways to stay involved and keep active. From field trips to social gatherings and educational workshops, northern Westchester offers a variety of programming to keep those over 60 engaged, informed, and entertained.

Earlier this year, Katonah Museum of Art started offering Senior Socials on the third Friday of each month. The popular program kicks off at the museum at 1 pm and includes a docent-led tour, featuring in-depth information about exhibitions, artists, and ideas, followed by coffee and treats. Senior citizen discounts are available, and the museum is equipped with loaner wheelchairs and portable stools for those who need a little extra support.

The Town of Bedford sponsors Senior Bus Trips. Upcoming outings this fall include trips to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Mohegan Sun Casino, and Radio City Music Hall for the Holiday Spectacular, followed by lunch at Carmine’s. Buses depart from the Katonah Community House and range in price from $35 to $105.  The town also offers opportunities for seniors to stay fit, like the weekly Chair Yoga classes that are held every Monday at the Bedford Hills Community House. Call 914-666-7004 to register.
