We’ve always excelled at taking our local relationships global, but the listing of Stanley Hilltop, a waterfront compound in Hong Kong, elevates that strength to new heights. Houlihan Lawrence Commercial Group has been named the exclusive brokerage to sell the 85,000 square foot site on behalf of the Westchester-based Catholic Foreign Mission Society of America, Inc., better known as the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers.

Built in 1935, Stanley Hilltop stands on 85,000 square feet of land, with buildings that have been described as fine examples of harmonious, pre-war colonial “east-meets-west” architecture. Located in the lively seaside village of Stanley, the property sits beside a luxury residential development and is in close proximity to a variety of retail, restaurants and transportation, giving the site significant potential. Hotel/resort or university facilities or additional luxury residential are just some of the many possibilities.

“Not only is this property exceptional in location and grandeur, but it provides a significant development opportunity as well,” says Thomas LaPerch, Director and Associate Broker for the Commercial Group.”

“As we reimagine our mission work for the twenty-first century, we are taking this unique opportunity to right-size our real estate holdings, permitting us to focus more of our resources on our core mission,” remarked Father David Smith, chief financial officer of the Maryknoll Fathers and Brothers. “We’ll continue to serve the Chinese people and the Chinese Catholic Church as we have for almost a century.”

The Commercial Group previously worked with the Maryknoll organization on the successful sale of a deaccessioned building at their Ossining, New York headquarters for adaptive reuse as an arts training center.
