Calling all oenophiles (wine lovers), turophiles (cheese lovers), and hippophiles (horse lovers)!  Head on over to Pound Ridge Wines & Spirits this Saturday, April 8, for Sip for a Cause.

This wine tasting event will benefit 13 Hands Equine Rescue, a non-profit that rescues horses from abuse (and often certain death) at racetracks and “kill pens.” In addition, the staff and volunteers at 13 Hands strive to educate the community about all matters of horse care, health, and advocacy to continuously improve the long-honored and time-tested, human-equine partnership.  At their Bedford Corners facility, 13 Hands provides basic care for the animals—food and water, shelter, veterinary and hoof care—and they train and utilize some of the rescues in their equine-assisted therapy. According to 13 Hands, "through therapeutic work with the horses, humans can be empowered to take control and bring about positive changes in their lives, even after experiencing the debilitating effects of traumatic events."

Pound Ridge Wine & Spirits will host Sip for a Cause from 6–8 pm on Saturday. For a minimum donation of $20, guests will taste 15-20 wines paired with a variety of delectable cheeses from Plum Plums Cheese.

All donations and a portion of the proceeds from wine purchased during the event will benefit 13 Hands Equine Rescue, Inc. This much-needed financial support will help care for and rehabilitate dozens of rescued horses at the 13 Hands facility.
