Even if schools are still in session, Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of the summer season. In the spirit of getting into the swing of things, we looked to our latest spring inventory to find homes with the most incredible resort-like amenities to spend quality time in the great outdoors. We think all of these will be quite the hit over the next few months:

    GREENWICH | 59 Mooreland Road

When thinking of modern, custom-built estates, the images most minds tend to conjure up probably look a lot like these. Perched high above four pastoral acres on a cul-de-sac, the grand Georgian-style stone manor is flanked by some of the finest luxury amenities both indoors and out. In the spirit of this post, we'll just talk about the latter. Perhaps the most immediately standout feature is a custom cabana with fully-loaded outdoor kitchen, equipped with two built-in barbecue grills, a sink, refrigerators and storage. The cabana's chimney actually serves the adjacent outdoor fireplace, which faces outward toward the spacious stone patio surrounding the infinity-edge pool. Below the acropolis of amenities lies terraced lawns, gardens and a bocce court. Allora...

BEDFORD | 134 Pine Brook Road

This custom-built Bedford retreat embraces a very California sensibility of indoor-outdoor living, and it was brilliantly designed to consider that mission statement through all seasons. From its open-air foyer, which allows view through from its facade to the sparking waters of Swallow Lake, it's challenging to be unimpressed at any aspect of this remarkable modern habitat—it utilizes not one wooden structural component—and the same holds true for its setting. Multiple levels of terraces host lounging patios, dining areas and an outdoor kitchen. Of course, an infinity-edge pool and spa seem almost prerequisite for the site, blurring the divide of where the pool's water ends and the lake begins.

    ROWAYTON 6 Pennoyer Street
    6pennoyer2
Beloved Rowayton isn't known for large acreage, but for what this seaside village home lacks in yard quantity is more than made up for in quality. On just under a quarter-acre of prime coastal Connecticut real estate, enchanting landscapes and stylish creature comforts create a setting equal parts sophisticated, rusticated and innately relaxing. Face one way and you're basking in the sun by a poolside patio; flip your chair and you're in a lush garden surrounded by woods, intellectualizing over a fire pit with peaty single-malt—a stash of which is never far for refills, because you've never left home.

    RYE | 10 Sound Road
    10sound
Rye's Greenhaven neighborhood is a seaside enclave rivaled by few, and this pre-war Tudor brings the warmth of English country sensibilities to the serenity of the coastline. With nearly an acre of grounds, the essentials for resort-like living are in no reserve. An expansive pool is surrounded by a multiple seating areas, a robust outdoor hearth, outdoor kitchen and indoor screen porch for those nights where y0u're not about to let a chance of rain force you fully inside. There's also a spa, grand gardens and spacious lawns for play, croquet, or whatever else you desire. The property has deeded rights to Greenhaven's private beach, dock and moorings.

    SCARSDALE 35 Sage Terrace
    35sage2
We'll end this tour in Scarsdale, where we're already envisioning just what we can cook over an open fire in one of the most architecturally-appropriate outdoor fireplaces we've ever seen. Not only does it match the style of this pre-war Norman Tudor, and we're no experts on thermodynamics, but it seems large enough to keep everyone on the spacious back terrace toasty. Adding to the BTUs is a built-in grilling station. It all makes for a true entertainer's backyard that can last you all summer long and well into fall, too.
