The Market on Spring, which recently opened in the heart of South Salem, is already a favorite stop for sandwiches and a much-needed break. If you’ve got a hankering for breakfast at any time of day, head to this peaceful little market-café, where they’ll upgrade the everyday-deli B.E.C. to include house-made pork sausage, a fried organic egg, cheddar, honey mustard aioli, and arugula on a brioche bun. While you’re waiting, the aroma of freshly made breads, pastries, and hot coffee will tempt you to order something to take home as well.

The former delicatessen was completely renovated in 2016 and re-opened as a neighborhood cafe, deli, and gourmet market, with seating for 12 and refrigerated cases bursting with seasonal salads and prepared sandwiches to-go. At the counter, you can order hot donuts, fresh soups, signature sandwiches (#9 boasts salmon, bacon, salsa verde, mayo, lettuce, and tomato on pullman toast), grass-fed beef or house-made chorizo burgers, buttermilk fried chicken, hand-rolled bagels, and so much more.

The Market on Spring is open for breakfast and lunch and caters private events in homes as well as for corporate and community events. Manager Bryce O’Brien says some of the more popular choices they have delivered recently have included focaccia-style pizza, pulled pork with homemade corn bread, wraps, and sandwiches. Looking for a personal chef to prepare a custom meal in your own kitchen? Chef Wesley Lansdon reportedly whips up dream dinners in private homes throughout the area.

At the Market, Lansdon can prepare dishes to accommodate all dietary needs, palates, and budgets, and O’Brien says they are working to build relationships with local farms, so that more produce can be locally sourced.

Did we mention the donuts? Get ‘em while they’re hot (but not on Mondays, when they clean the donut machine!).
