If you’re a globetrotter living in Northern Westchester, you’re in luck! Flying to Europe has never been easier. Now that Stewart International Airport, located just 48 miles northwest of Bedford in Newburgh, NY, is the new hub for the highly rated, low-cost Norwegian Airlines, the world is patiently out there waiting for you to arrive.

    International Flights

From Stewart, travelers can fly directly to Scotland, Ireland, Norway, Spain, Finland, France, and more. Prices are incredibly reasonable.

For example, have you always wanted to see the mountains and fjords of Norway? Norwegian’s offering one-way fares as low as $89 from Stewart to Bergen (Bryggen) in October.  Or maybe you’d prefer to explore the castles of Scotland? In September, you can fly one-way from Stewart to Edinburgh for $89, as well.

If you drive south from Bedford to JFK Airport vs. north to Stewart Airport, the mileage is virtually the same, however, the big difference is in the drastically reduced traffic when you head to Stewart.

    Domestic Flights

An even more convenient starting point for travelers in the Bedford area is Westchester County Airport—just 13 miles south of the Village Green. It’s true that you can’t fly directly to international destinations from here, but you can go non-stop to Chicago on American Eagle or United Express, to Boston, Martha’s Vineyard, and Nantucket on Cape Air or Tradewind, or to Florida on JetBlue.

While the beauty of Northern Westchester compels so many of us to set down roots here, the opportunities to enjoy a change of scenery from time to time are endless--and so convenient.
