Summer weather seems to have made its official exit this week.  Brisk air tickled our nostrils at last weekend's American Gold Cup, and the definitive harbinger of fall, walking down the street with coffee clad in a cardigan over their plaid collared shirt—like a proverbial autumnal groundhog, emerging with the harvest moon to the tune of Vivaldi's Four Seasons—was officially sighted in Scarsdale this week, signaling beach days are behind us and it's time to start plucking apples off those trees.

In the spirit of local tradition, a handful of events happening this weekend will celebrate the Hudson Valley and Southern New England's local bounty.  So loosen your belt buckle and ready your gym bag; here's some of the best food events you can check out in New York City's northern suburbs.

Southern Westchester Food & Wine Festival
Where: Various locations in Scarsdale, Mamaroneck and White Plains
When: Fri/Sat/Sun, September 19-21, 1-5pm

The 2014 SOWE Food & Wine Festival is a three-day celebration of Lower Westchester County's burgeoning food scene, bringing together the county's best chefs, oenologists, brewmeisters, cheesemongers, pitmasters, and everything in between.  Whether visiting one of two "tasting villages" or spectating the chef battles (or more tame demos), there's sure to be an event fit for your tastes and schedules.  An added bonus: Event proceeds go towards raising funds to fight world hunger, obesity and malnutrition.  Houlihan Lawrence is a proud co-sponsor! Muscoot Farm Harvest Dinner
Where: Muscoot Farm (51 Route 100, Katonah, NY)

The fork couldn't be closer to the farm.  Chef Rich Parente of Brewster's Clock Tower Grill will serve a farm-to-table menu in front of the main house, with live music provided by the Acme Trio.  It's an annual tradition on the historic site, a freeze-frame of the once ubiquitous "gentleman's farms" found in Northern Westchester at the turn of the last century preserved to keep the county close to its agrarian roots.  Bring your own plates and cutlery; Muscoot will provide glasses and canvas bags to carry your washed dishes home.  Advance tickets required. Hudson River Craft Beer Festival
Where: Beacon Riverfront Park (1 Flynn Drive, Beacon, NY)
When: Saturday, September 20, 1-5pm

Join the Empire State's best small-batch brewers for the hoppiest celebration in town. 30+ breweries will gather on the mighty Hudson's banks, steps from Metro North's Beacon Station, for the annual tasting event, mingling with food, live entertainment and local artisan goods.  General admission and discounted "designated driver" tickets available for whichever friend pulls the wrong straw. The Armonk Outdoor Art Show
