Mobile employees and self-employed professionals know the challenges of working from home.  It's easy to get distracted by pets, kids, or even the growing laundry pile that needs attention. While having a home office or studio with a door that closes helps to keep distractions to a minimum, many locals are finding they enjoy heading to a convenient, dedicated workspace that offers services and opportunities to network.

Some local professionals simply take their laptops to coffee shops with wifi, like The Kitchen Table at Pound Ridge or the Katonah Reading Room, for meetings with clients or to change the scenery. However, others seek a more structured work environment and have happily found it at The Workplace @ DayDreamer Studio in Cross River and Martin House in Pound Ridge.

The Workplace @ DayDreamer Studio, located in Yellow Monkey Village on Route 35, provides an on-demand private location for independent and mobile workers, complete with office infrastructure and support services like high-speed internet access, a printer, and an exclusive private environment. There is also art/photo studio space available. According to The Workplace, “As countless freelancers and small business owners have discovered, home offices are cheap and convenient but also highly isolating and full of distraction. Coffee shops are a temporary solution at best. Coworking offers a more inspiring environment with all the necessary tools and amenities.” Fees range from $25 for the first hour to $70 for a full eight-hour day.
