Seven private horse barns will open their doors next week for the Bedford Riding Lanes Association Barn Tour.
On Monday, October 22, the tour will kick off at 9 am. The progressive flow of the event is tons of fun, according to BRLA board member and Houlihan Lawrence agent Christina Dochtermann. The tour culminates at one iconic farm where all attendees will enjoy a luncheon catered by the The Barn at the Bedford Post Inn.
“It's a wonderful day in the country for equestrians and members of the community who enjoy seeing bucolic countryside, architecture, landscaping, and, of course, horses,” she remarked. “Each location will showcase different types of horses and riding styles.”
“On the tour you’ll see some incredible barns that are not open to the public,” says Linda Van Kooy, who organizes the tour along with a team of volunteers. “We have a barn with Olympic Gold Medal-winning horses and rider. We have textile artists, painters, welders, jumping and dressage demonstrations, and even an Equestrian Living historian on horseback who will talk about the battle of Bedford.”
Space is limited and on a first-to-register basis (advance registration only). Tickets are $75 and all proceeds go to the Bedford Riding Lanes Association which maintains and develops the historic system of trails and dirt roads that extend and connect more than 100 linear miles of trails in the Bedford and Pound Ridge areas.
